Size
Montenegro is not a large country, covering an area of only 13,812 sq.km but is one of the most beautiful countries in Southern Europe. With its 293 km of coastline boasting 117 beaches and 240 days of sunshine per year, coupled with its emerging skiing market, it is starting to attract tourists from all over the world. Untapped, untamed and breath taking with over 60% of Montenegro mountainous means that the country’s natural beauty, enhanced by deep valleys and glaciers, will be retained.
Climate
240 days of sunshine per year. Spring, hot balmy summers and autumns with temperatures between mid 20 and 30 degrees. Relatively mild winters along the coast, although plenty of snow in the mountains for skiing.
Major cities
The capital is Podgorica. The old medieval capital is Ctinza with Budva and Kotor main cities. The architecture of the old towns gives them a Renaissance feel.
Cuisine
Mediterranean based, with traditional cured hams and locally produced wines, cheeses and olives. Amazing fresh fruit and fresh fish….there is no word in the language for Organic….as everything just is!
